I've just acquired both Late Night and Supernatural for The Sims 3. I'm a little confounded about how to find vampire and werewolf NPCs for my active family, in a pre-existing town/save, to befriend.

I've done a lot of Googling on the subject – and also searched here – but most of the results I'm getting are about how to get turned into a vampire/werewolf: not how to find them in the first place.

So far the only hints I have to go on are that if your sim knows a vampire, the vampire's portrait in the relationship panel will have a pink outline. One of my family knows one sim with this outline. Shouldn't there be more (my family know a lot of NPCs between them)? Also, I know the ways to spot a vampire are their eyes, skin colour and a tattoo on their neck. I've been doing a lot of pausing and looking carefully at NPCs in parks etc. None of them fit this description.

I have no idea how to go about finding or identifying werewolves/fairies at all.

I have been sending my family out to public places late at night: both on and not on a full moon. Places like the graveyard, parks, bars and even random streets. Sometimes sims show up but none of them are supernatural sims. No-one supernatural appears to show up at clubs; however, I don't have many clubs placed in this town as it was an existing game with few free (or reasonably replace-able) lots.

So I turn to the collective wisdom of r/sims. Please help me.
