Ftl No Rebel Fleet

Go check our launch page for a more pictures of the crew and our other projects.

Time is of the essence, however, as you need to make it to the exit beacon before the rebel fleet is upon you. Gta 4 map with all locations. If that happens, you can still escape, but you don’t get many rewards and the fight is tough. In FTL, the player controls a spacecraft whose crew has intercepted a data packet from a rebel fleet. The goal is to reach a Federation fleet, waiting several sectors of space away, without being destroyed or caught by the rebel fleet that is in pursuit.

Attention!
We have determined the set format: three ships with no additional content (i.e. figures and such). The Kestrel is one of them without any hesitations. But other two are up to you. The previous poll is finished and the Osprey will be the second after the Kestrel. Now we are standing before a dilemma: the Torus or Gila Monster?. Vote for your favorite to see them in the final set! And don't forget to support, vote and spread the word!

What is Cuusoo?
There is a small but definite chance that you have happened upon this page without knowing what the Cuusoo website is.
Cuusoo is a site where people submit ideas for new Lego sets. If the project can get 10,000 Supporters then Lego will review the projected. If Lego likes the idea, and can get permission from the IP holders, then they will create their own version of project and mass produce it to make it available to you.
So, if you want your very own FTL Lego ships, then please create an account and support this project! If you are really serious about wanting it then make sure to spread the word to other people who might support.

FTL: Faster Than Light is a rogue-like indie video game developed by Matthew Davis and Justin Ma, also known as Subset Games team, which brings player to the edge of a conflict between remnants of Galactic Federation and a huge Rebel Fleet. A small ship called The Kestrel has some critical information about Rebels and must deliver it to the allied forces encamped just a few sectors away from it's current position. But Rebels are already on a pursuit so there's no time to waste! Onward to the great unknown!
Your task as a player is to take control of a ship's crew and lead them to the target. You must jump from waypoint to waypoint in order to reach the exit beacon that leads to the next sector. Every waypoint is a random event, some unexpected encounter. It could be Rebel pilotless scout sneaking around in search of you, or a trader, or maybe a random weapon just floating in the space! The main difficulty is the rebel fleet which comes closer with each jump you make.
Every decision is critical.
You can upgrade your ship, hire or acquire during events new crewmembers, and obtain new weapons. Spend your only currency - scrap metal - wisely, because you will never know what will happen after the jump.
This is FTL as I love it. I spent hours playing, trying again and again, and only once did I make it to the victory. FTL: Faster Than Light is a great game that I recommend to everyone I know. Such a love deserves a proper contribution.
So firstly I made The Kestrel Itself and posted it on the official FTL forums. I received many warm comments from the community so I decided to make another model. That's when the FTL devs contacted me. Justin Ma wanted to make a few real Kestrel’s copies by himself, but I told both Justin and Matthew that we could try to make a CUUSOO project so The Kestrel will have a chance to be officially released as a set. It will bring more FTL fans to LEGO and vice versa. And they agreed, allowing me to make a project and promised some community support.

Spreading the Word
The faster a project reaches 10k, the more seriously it is taken by the community. The current review deadline is March 4th. Given the expansive fan base of FTL, the required 10,000 supporters should be easy to acquire by then, but only if you can help us get the word out.

Why not making ships bigger?
I am just tired of people who come and ask me why I intend this exact scale and nothing bigger, and frequently ticking me off with their unwillingness to read the comments below to discover lots of useful information. So for your own good I am putting here a link to Glen's article about 'FTL: Why not make them bigger'. http://blog.brick-hero.com/p/ftl-why-not-make-them-bigger.html Just please, read it carefully and save our time and neural cells.

They hunt us. They bomb our worlds for target practice.
A star cluster in the constellation of Orion rotates once every thousand years. Those who rule there have an ancient tradition: When each cycle ends, they train their fleets by spilling the blood of lesser beings.
The enemy fleets are coming again. In response, the Rebel Worlds gather their starships to face the terri

I guess I would class it as the same level as sexy/goreyness as maybe a James Bond movie, however not as bad as say.. the hunger games.
Not sure about the bad words thing though, it's not something I'd notice.(less)

I may have to list B.V.Larson among my 'I'm a fan of this author' list.. I think I've liked most of the books I've read by him and I'm coming to think of his books as 'safe to buy'.
Note I listed this among my 5 star reads. The basic idea behind this book has been done elsewhere and as I started it i kept thinking of ways I thought might have been a better way to go. That said, as I went along I became more and more interested, more and more enthralled.

Just about the worst SF I've read in decades. Characters are one dimensional and not even believable. the story is shallow and stupid. I've seen better plots in Dr. Seuss books. I'm embarrassed to admit I read 50 pages before deleting it from my Kindle. A total waste of my money.
The fact that there are so many Amazon 5 star reviews confirms how worthless Amazon book reviews can be.

17% in and had to stop. Why plagiarise yourself, this is star force all over again ??? BV you are creative, surely you could have done something better. Your main characters are generally super gifted fellows who every chick wants to bang, this is bearable but copying your own story lines & the same type of hero ?
Have you run out of puff .. stop writing a book every month. Then go have a long deserved holiday and come back with something new.
You can turn off your brain for this one. You won't need it, or even particularly want to have it around.
I picked this book because I wanted something light and simple..it was light and simple and yet so odd. It started out very good and I was very intrigued but it slid into oddness. Worth the listen if you're bored out of your mind.
Another Poor, Lame, and Unsatisfactory Product from Mr. Larson
The 'Rebel Fleet,' is classic B. V. Larson-somewhat potentially interesting storyline that is decimated by author's pretentious, overbearing, inept, cartoonish, and juvenile execution. The author is symptomatic of the current state of eBook writers-someone who thinks they are so smart, so clever, so talented, that prodigious amounts of their hackneyed, drivel produced, under the guise of SciFi, is an acceptable commercial product.

DNF. I got 10 pages in before I closed it and deleted it off my Prime library. The extensive avoidance of 'said' in dialogue felt forced, 5 pages in the main character tries to hit on a girl that's already refused him because 'no doesn't mean never,' and all it all it reads kind of like a mediocre self-insert except it's an original story instead of fanfic. Would rather just read good SI-fic.
Well, this is going to be a fun series! Leo Blake reminds me of James McGill of the “Undying Mercenaries Series” also written by B.V. Larson. They are both irreverent, cocky and don’t follow the rules. McGill gets into more trouble, but Blake has his hands full in this series. There’s just enough comedy thrown in to make the story mildly amusing, but not to the point it gets ridiculous.
Aliens have dropped some kind of rock in the water just off an island in Hawaii. Blake and a friend of his swi

This wasn't at all what I was expecting, thankfully. Because I was kind of preparing for a rouge human fleet gone off against some oppressive earth or human government / empire: a last stand of noble rebels against the fascist powers that be. I actually avoided starting this one for a pretty long time because of that false expectation. That is not at all what I got! And had I known how unique this was (for me at least given what I've read), I would have been all over this series long ago.

Boy, where do I start. First off, just to get it out of the way, the main character in this book has a sex with a cat. Okay, it's a human-sized alien, but it's even described as feline like in the book. And then.. the author chose to vividly describe the sex..
Now that's out of the way, lets move on to the rest of the book. The main character is the very definition of a Gary Stu. He has sex with whomever he wants (he was with some Blonde before the cat girl), he's an ace fighter pilot, he's a g

In “Rebel Fleet” Earth is visited by aliens who have seeded the galaxy a long time ago and want now soldiers to fight for them. Leo Blake is one of these unwilling recruits. He adjusts to the new situation and manages to become the captain of a group of humans who will distinguish themselves in the upcoming battles.
“Rebel Fleet” is fun to read, although there is quite a lot of physical violence in it, especially in the first third of the book. The characters move from a difficult situation to an

Perhaps I would have enjoyed Rebel Fleet more if I hadn’t read Old Man’s War before it. These books follow the same path: earthling joins the galactic fight, goes through training, and ends up being the best soldier. In this case it was because of human's cunning and ability to deceive. Fair enough. The story, plot and characters are vanilla, which is fine because this book is about the adventure. The journey. Problem is I felt like I’d been on this journey several times before, and there was no..more
Leo Blake, a former soldier, is bumming around Hawaii when he accidentally comes into contact with an anomaly from outer space, which infects him with a symbiotic organism that makes him an instant target for a succession of deranged attackers. Soon Leo discovers that Earth is part of a galaxy-wide war and the 'sym' is preparing him to be one of the next batch of conscripts to the Rebel Fleet.
The good: The author's total commitment to his ridiculous premise, and his inventive ways of furthering

Right off the bat, this is not 'Hard Science' fiction or even that serious. It is a fun romp with some interesting ideas. The hero always swaggers (and I mean swaggers a lot), makes out with whatever he can, and always comes out on top. Normally that'd make the book a wash, but the background helps out here. The alien society isn't one normally presented. They are advanced in the way we'd normally see them, and there is a clear tension between what the definition of what an 'advanced' society re..more
I read this book in 2 days so must have liked something about it. I'm starting to read more space sci fi stuff and this is the first Larson book I've read. The plot moves fast, and opens up an interesting universe of humanoid species, though I feel that it does get a little far fetched in places regarding the exploits of the main character. That said, I do like the well placed spots of humour in the story and the space battles are well described. I felt that the book got better the more I read a..more

Picked this up in a sale, and glad i did. I would have been disappointed if i had spent a full credit on it. The basic story idea was fine, but the main character was just too perfect (ace pilot, leader, ladies man, quick thinker etc). Everyone else seemed exceptionally dumb in comparison. The imperials were daft as well. They were supposed to be a superior race, yet they were outwitted by a single person.
This is a pop corn book, and it was enjoyable enough for me to finish, but i really have no

This is an interesting book. Not the best I've ever read, but I liked it. In fact, I liked it enough to immediately continue with the second one in the series.
The book starts slow, and with a strange set of actions. I was king of bored with the first half of the book. It was slow going, and without a direction I could figure out. Then it picked up the pace and it became very good.
I understand the desire of the author to provide a complex buildup to the interstellar universe in which the story ta

Rebel fleet by B.V. Larson is a sci-fi book about someone who gets abducted by aliens. The aliens are part of a smaller rebel fleet that is rebelling against an oppressive Imperial Fleet. The Rebels recruit groups of aliens from many different planets.
I liked this book because it makes the space travel simple enough that it doesn’t distract from the story. The beginning starts off kind of slow but it gets more interesting the farther the story goes on. I like how the characters seem like norm

Fascinating: TREMENDOUSLY Clever
This is a stupendous read. What an inventive, clever mind B.V. has, and with it he's imbued this book with a witty, fast-paced, improbably-probable look at a galaxy sown with carnivore and omnivorous predators, capped off with primates, and their only slightly inhibited interactions against an arrogant, vicious foe.
Thanks for a great read!
How did you come up with this? Fascinating!
Larson does military science-fiction better than anyone else in his cohort. The Rebel Fleet series (at least from this first installment) does his skill justice.
In general: If you've enjoyed his other works (The Undying Mercenaries series in particular) you'll find that this book scratches basically the same itches. I'm curious to see how the series progresses, but in general I think its worth pursuing.
'Turn your brain off', another review said and that is exactly what I think too. It's written like he wanted it to become a movie script, but still is somewhat fun to read. Pretty shallow character development, pretty shallow good vs uncaring evil, with some ok ship combat action scenes. And like any good pulp sci-fi these bad guys don't know how to build a starship without an easily exploitable weakness.
Weak plot. Decent story.
The premise of this book wasn't very well defined and the first several scenes were a strange mishmash of incoherent thoughts and hard to follow.
Once the story got going, it read pretty well. It lacked the empathy with the characters that I usually get from a 5 Star book.
Give it a chance.
Pure entertainment. I was hooked from the first chapter. A good old romp in the cosmos with strange humanoid aliens and lots of kick ass action. I borrowed this book on Amazon Prime and ended up buying the trilogy with the audio upgrade. Great space opera material. Great Literature it is not. And I don't even care. It kept me awake and entertained.
Easy read with a fun story. I see a lot of people on here dislike Larson's writing, but this is my only Larson book and i found the story very entertaining. It's not going to win any awards, but sometimes it's nice to just have a fun easy read instead of something that requires a peri & post-reading analysis and deep thinking to follow what's going on.
I wanted to like this
But I just couldn't get more than lukewarm. Let's face it, space opera is often derivative and juvenile and based on those criteria this book fits right in. Still, better mediocre scifi than no scifi and at least the gender bending stuff is inter-species instead of intra-. A four hour beach read.
Awesome first book in series
This is the third series from B V Larsen that i started. Though i used audible for most of it, this was just an awesome start. Waiting to read the next few.

Good read
Couldn’t stop reading. It’s on the soft-side of sci-fi, but makes an effort to explain the technology. Has very interesting concepts. Will definitely be reading the rest of the series.
