I would like to take screenshots in GTA V on my PS3, but it's not possible from the XMB bar. I looked around on the Internet and I see a lot of people talking about a capture card, but these are for video recording right?

Is there any way that I can take screenshots (not videos) from GTA V?

Gta 5 Online Play

If you have a PC video capture card, you could route the TV output to it.

Among the many features stuffed into the PC version of GTA 5 is support for multi-monitor setups (up to three max). We’re not done with the game yet—not by far—so for fun, we decided to switch from playing it in 4K to rocking three 2560x1600 displays at the same time.

If you haven’t done a multi-monitor setup before, the software that pairs with today’s GPUs make it super simple. In fact, moving and plugging in the three HP ZR30w displays we used took longer than getting GTA 5 to treat them as a single monitor. For the Titan X video card we put inside one of our Red Squadron PCs, all we had to do was go into the Nvidia Control Panel, click on the “Configure Surround, PhysX” option, check the box for “Span displays with Surround,” then load the game and change our settings to a fullscreen resolution of 7680x1600.

For the gameplay shown in our video, these are the settings we used:

  • DirectX Version: DX11
  • Screen Type: Fullscreen
  • Resolution: 7680x1600
  • Aspect Ratio: Auto
  • Refresh Rate: 59MHz
  • Output Monitor: 1
  • FXAA: On
  • MSAA: Off
  • Nvidia TXAA: Off
  • VSync: On
  • Pause Game on Focus Loss: On
  • Population Density: Max
  • Population Variety: Max
  • Distance Scaling: Max
  • Texture Quality: Very High
  • Shader Quality: Very High
  • Shadow Quality: High
  • Reflection Quality: Very High
  • Reflection MSAA: Off
  • Water Quality: High
  • Particles Quality: High
  • Grass Quality: Very High
  • Soft Shadows: Soft
  • Post FX: Very High
  • Motion Blur Strength: Off
  • In-Game Depth of Field Effects: On
  • Anisotropic Filtering: X16
  • Ambient Occlusion: High
  • Tessellation: High

Our framerate averaged in the low-to-mid 40s; you can tweak this, of course. When we tried playing with MSAA set to 2X and shader quality reduced to High, we got rid of some jaggies but got pushed down to (a solid) 30fps.

Overall, our multi-monitor setup had lots of IGN folks lining up to give it a try—but we know there are even sweeter configurations out there. If you’d like to share yours (perhaps one with a nearly bezel-free experience, unlike our sadly older, corporate-style monitors), show it off in the comments below!
